Social Media Blackout

In line with most of football, the ESFC observed the 3 day blackout of all social media channels. We, as a league, take this constant abuse very seriously and will work with the authorities until we rid society of the menace & unnecessary distress this causes.

The following report catches up on the weekend football action and a look forward to the upcoming fixtures.

KickItOut

Senior Division

Walthamstow sprang a major surprise at the weekend and put themselves into pole position for the Senior Division title with a stunning 2-1 win at Global. Danny Cox was on target for the hosts but two missed penalties cost them dearly as Red Star now have their sights firmly on the big prize. Elsewhere, previous leaders, JK Silvertown crumbled to an impressive Barkingside, clearly a team bang on form and looking towards glory themselves. The visitors goals came from a pair for Richard Kone & one apiece for George Edwards  Reece Simpson & sub, Elliot Scott. In the afternoon kick off Weare United were ruthless and put Newbury Forest to the sword in an entertaining game. Leon Wildman & Tommy Jackson scored for Weare and the other was an own goal.  Luke Caston grabbed one for Forest but it was too little too late.

THIS WEEK, Barkingside play JK Silvertown with the visitors hoping to reassert themselves following the drubbing at the hands of the same opposition yesterday. Newbury Forest play Global with neither side able to win silverware now. Walthamstow play the late game against Weare United in a highly anticipated game. The now, leaders, entertain a Weare side playing with supreme confidence. What will give?

Division One

Loxford Lions were the big winners of the day in Division One. A massive 6-3 win at South Ilford Catholics, enhances their chances of promotion, currently they lie second to runaway leaders Hillford. Newbury Forest Reserves pulled off another astounding result, 4-2 at Debden Sports. Tre McDonnell Elie & Carl White weighed in with the goals for a disappointed Debden side. Flamengo pulled themselves further away from bottom placed BSL with a fine 4-0 win.

THIS WEEK, Hillford & Newbury Forest Reserves meet at Roding Valley with the visitors aiming to impress and keep their decent run going. Loxford Lions will also face a team coming into form, Flamengo. Second place is under fire. BSL have a good chance of derailing the Catholics push for promotion when the men in green visit on the back of the hiding last weekend.

Division Two

In Division Two, Something From Nothing edged it over bottom side Barking Colts with super striker Temi Alaka weighing in with the all important goal. PJ Marcus grabbed a wonder goal to help Belfry Reserves past Essex Minors at the Power League and an outside chance of promotion.  Chris Thomas scored for Hainault Athletic, who will be sore at missing a retaken penalty in their draw at home to Sher Force. The results keeps both behind the chasing promotional party.

THIS WEEK, 8th plays 7th as the Colts play host the Sher Force. In-form Belfry are at home to Horse & Well in what’s sure to be a belter of a game. Much the same can be said about the matchup of the current top two SFN & Essex Minors in Beckton, three points the gap between these sides.
