Results & Fixtures
What a Sunday for JK Silvertown, rising to take top spot in the Senior Division for the first time in their history with a 5-2 win over Newbury Forest. It wasn’t all one way traffic though as expensive mistakes by the visitors were punished by a Chris Wright hat-trick plus goals by Bradley Drisdale and a Reece Morgan penalty. An absolute worldy by Sean Downie gave Forest early hope while Lloyd Ross grabbed a late consolation.
Over at Weare Utd, the resurgent home team were thwarted by a much improved Barkingside outfit who edged a five goal thriller. Despite strikes by Jordan Johnson & James Walkinshaw, it’s the visitors who keep their feint title hopes alive.
In Division One, Hillford struck six on the road, courtesy of goals by Rob Sheehan who got 2, Thomas Allen, Sean Greaves & Troy Norbert. But the one stat from this games that they conceded for the first time in 8 or 9 games. What a record!
Jack Bell, of Debden Sports, scored in game one of a double header against Loxford Lions but could not prevent defeat but in the reverse game, Tre McDonnell-Elie & Harry Parsons ensured honours were even on the day. 3 points apiece.
Newbury Forest Reserves took both games in a double header against Flamengo and now find themselves hooked up into the top two, having a splendid season.
In Division Two action, SFN have now moved into pole position for promotion as they saw off an unlucky Hainault Athletic side, who will be very pleased to have taken them all the way today. Luke Barrow scored for Hainault.
Staying in the top two is Essex Minors, who battled to an impressive 3-3 draw at third place Horse & Well. Cain Dash scored with 11 minutes to go, but earlier strikes from Isaac Gee & leading scorer, Alex Bailey, ensured honours were shared.
Goals from Dean Hurch & a Liam Walker penalty were enough for Cardinals Athletic to see off the challenge of Barking Colts in a good game at the Jo Richardson Centre. Result means that Colts are unlikely to catch their conquerors in the table but there’s still a fair way to go.
