Last weekend saw the potential title decider take place at a soggy, boggy Warren Sports Centre. A few of us were in attendance, notably to witness a tough match contested to the limits by both sides. BigFootballer TV captured the action and highlights will be appearing on their website.

Barkingside showed the touches and desire that had helped them reach the summit prior to the game but came unstuck in a tale of two keepers. Although it would be unfair to pin it on individuals, lack of coverage for the first and a spill for the second are fair comment. But for the inspirational Joe Insole in the Global net, it could have been a different story.

On more than one occasion he rescued his team as the league leaders tried to get back in the game. But, in the end, it was a deserved victory for Global and a return to the top of the table. The remaining four games for both will be an interesting time indeed.

This coming week Global face cup kings Belfry in a game, which on the last two occasions of last season, saw the then Division One side deserve to win the game but snatched defeats from the jaws of victory.

Belfry will be inspired to disrupt the Championship charge and elevate themselves towards the podium spots.

Senior Division Matches – 26-01-2020

Global vs Belfry

JK Silvertown vs SKRT

Shqipet vs Barkingside Sundays

Tough schedules have put Silvertown & Belfry behind and playing catch up. Wins for either of those will see them reeling in the top teams.
