Week #1 Preview

Weare United make their first appearance in the Essex Sunday Football Combination against another debutant, SKRT. There will be high hopes on making an impression first time out, especially for all the hard work the coaches have invested in making these teams competitive. I’m looking forward to seeing how both develop in this challenging and competitve top competition.

In Division Two, the new AC Milano open up their campaign against promoted Loxford Lions. Milano earned a lot of admirers last season and swap over Leagues to test their mettle. There’s some impressive teams at this level for 2019-20 and nobody will want to be left behind in the chase for glory & promotion.

In Division Three, Cardinals Ath (formerly Haver Town) entertain the newly formed Newbury Forest Reserves so will be unaware what to expect. But they’ll hope to have used their pre-season well enough to cope with whatever is thrown at them, especially as the oppositions first team has a good reputation for being a tight unit. Global Reserves have taken to Sunday football for the first time, developing a side from willing friends and players stepping out together and looking to get a foothold in the division as each week presents a new challenge. First up is the ever youthful Barking Colts, a team that’s grown together over a number of seasons and are coached in the right way. The double award winning team are a great example of how getting it right in the mind and attitude leads to an enjoyable experience which can bring rewards.

We wish all the teams every good luck for the season 2019-2020
