REFEREE SECTION

Referees appointed by the ESFC are affiliated to the Essex County FA. They choose where they wish to referee and we are glad to have so many quality officials that work closely with us to provide cover for each of our games. Jim Brown, Referees Secretary is your first port of call should you have any issues but furthermore, your contacts at County are Lukas Wood (RDO) or James Lisher (Senior RDO)

While the main focus is on the clubs and teams, let’s not forget that there wouldn’t be a game without the all important third “team”, the officials!

Today we start the first in a series of “getting to know your ref“. The first edition starts with our current Special Merit Award Winner of 2018 and a multi award winner throughout his career.

Ladies and gentlemen….

I hope you have enjoyed a little light-hearted reading behind one of our leading referees. We are blessed with so many talented officials who choose the Essex Sunday Football Combination and we thank Essex County FA for allowing us to use them.

Dave has enjoyed success with the ESFC, amongst others, and will undoubtedly be in the group to take charge of one of our finals which start next month. Those announcements will come in the next few weeks.

A passionate referee, many describe him as laid back, but ultimately a well respected referee who knows how to impose his authority in every situation.

A Football Life Behind the Whistle – EMMA GUEST

The Essex Sunday Football Combination is very proud to have one of the few female referees, I believe there are 59 in Essex, who regularly officiates on our league. Respected and admired, Emma has decided to share her ongoing story, a battle between being a mum of two young children, wife and dedication to progressing her career as far as she can.

Having already been appointed to the Essex Sunday Junior Trophy Final, a successful season already beckons for Emma but she really has her eye on promotion to Level 4 (Supply Referee). Emma has many friends in the game and along with her controlling body, the Essex County FA, will continue to support her journey. The Essex Sunday Football Combination will be featuring Emma’s posts on this website.

Nice glasses Emma. You haven’t changed much 🙂
