One Step Closer
Global took a massive stride towards retaining their title with a hard fought win at Low Hall Farm. In a venue switch arranged by Skrt, the plucky new side to the ESFC pushed the current champions all the way. Conditions this morning in Walthamstow meant the game could go ahead.
It means that only an extremely tough encounter with Belfry stands in the way of the ultimate prize.
ESFC Premier Cup
An ominous warning was sent out by Barkingside in their tricky tie with Newbury Forest. After pulling out a two goal lead they found themselves pegged back to level terms before finding the extra gear to grab the winner and a home semi-final tie against JK Silvertown, Global or Belfry. that is already a mouth-watering prospect as I am sure all preparations will be meticulous in an attempt to reach the pinnacle finale.
Loxford Lions had an impressive day at home to JK Silvertown but found the Senior Division team too hot to handle. Maybe the higher-ranked team didn’t have to find their final gear but they didn’t underestimate their opposition and steered the ship home safely. Now they await the victors of the Global & Belfry clash.
Joe Lizzimore Cup Semi-Finals
AC Milano safely negotiated a passage to the finals with a seemingly comfortable win at home to Sher Force. Roared on by their ferocious following and in only their second year together, Milano now travel to Hornchurch on April 19th and a chance to lift the trophy. Siraz knows he will have to maintain focus and remind them that the job still needs to be done.
Meeting them in what now will be a tremendous battle will be the impressive Uplands Town who pulled everything together at the right time. Jamie Webster will now be telling his team that the underdogs according to league position is just figures on a page. It’s what you do on the day, and who’s to say they can’t repeat the excellent Semi-Final upset of FC Leytonstone.
Wolfpack climbed to fourth and an outside chance of a podium spot which may include a promotion chance. The 3-1 win over Rainham owed much to great team play as the visitors make you have to play well to take anything from the match.
Barking Colts missed out on an opportunity to draw level on points with their opponents today after losing the game 1-3. Playing the game with enthusiasm and just improving every season is important for the lads and today will show them that anything is possible with a bit of added luck and hard work.
