J Lizzimore Cup Final 2019

The top two square off in this intriguing cup final tie.  Although the Debden outfit have proved to be streets and miles above the rest this season, current form throws a curve ball and narrows the gap on expectations. The will of the Barking team is evident in the way they have overcome their opponents in recent times by rugged determination and execution of game plans. The reports I have heard indicate this game will not be one way traffic.

Both camps will be quietly confident they have the gameplan to win the day.

Referees reports have long praised the efforts of both sides, especially in 2019 so the watching crowd will be in for a treat.

“We haven’t won anything!”

Martin Brazier (Manager/Secretary, Debden Sports)

I officiated in a recent game and Martin was keeping his lads feet firmly on the ground.

I know the teams will take nothing for granted.

So, as we can see, a much closer contest than the league table would suggest.  It seems that playing these pressure games really lifts each club and there will be no fears for either side. Both of them appeared in a Cup Final last season so will be used to the occasion, but this is another day when, if all else fails, if that little bit of luck goes your way then you may end up with the silverware.

It’s going to be a cracking occasion with two splendid teams trying do themselves and their supporters justice.

Sunday, KO 14:30 at AFC Hornchurch, Bridge Avenue, Upminster.
